Rescued and Repurposed
Hello, Folks!
Sorry I have been AWOL for so long. Does it count that I was thinking of you?
Our church is having a flea market August 23 to raise money for our relief organization to Romania. (NTC) I have been sewing, painting, crocheting and crafting away to make stuff to sell. There will be other vendors there as well. Please pray the weather is perfect, and that we sell LOTS!
Here are a few pics of some of the things I have made. The hats and rag rugs are all made from yarn and fabric I scored at the second hand shops. I also get thread, elastic, buttons, ribbon, seam binding and no end of other bargains there. The signs are made from old, wooden cutting boards, or the ends of little crates you buy fruit in. I have no idea what prices to put on things, so I have asked a few friends to help me with that. I have 24 rugs, beaded rag bracelets, pot holders, hair bows and headbands for little girls, circle skirts for girls with matching head bands, bow ties for men and boys, wreaths and signs. I also make play food sets for Barbie dolls from clay that you can bake and paint. The clay and paint are the only things I couldn't find at the second hand shops!
Here are just a few pics of some of the stuff I make.
I love crafting from second hand goods. I feel like I am rescuing them and giving them a new purpose ... kind of what God did with me! There's a song I like that says, "He saved me. Rescued me. Just a moment there set me free..." I celebrate His love and my freedom every day! He is so good.
Once this sale is over, I will have a lot more free time! Of course, then it will be time to start making Christmas presents!
Here in Denmark, school has started, and the days are getting chilly. We had a lovely summer, though, and it had to end eventually. I hope all of you have had a nice summer. Did you make some lovely memories?
Blessings!

You are an artist!!
Our summer contained memories, but not lovely ones, at least not yet. We're waiting for God to bring good out of the canceled wedding situation. We did have lots of good little memories though. Praying for good weather and that your sale will go well.
Very nice hats! I would have loved the Barbie food when I was a kid - we made furniture out of boxes and bits! I hope your sale brings in lots of $$$!
Such lovely things. You have been very busy. I pray your sale will be very successful. I crochet little roses and put a hair clip or a bobbie pin on the back for girls to wear in their hair.
Hi Pastor Mae, you have been a busy gal and every thing looks really nice. I hope a lot is raised for this worthy cause.
I wish you and your church many sales. I think what you are doing is good. It is always best when our talents can benefit others. You have a gift in crafting, and it will benefit many, from those who buy the items to those recipients of the proceeds. God bless.
Beautiful things.
My goodness, you've certainly been busy, Mae, and I love all these sweet things you've created! I've been wanting to make some rugs similar to yours and wondered if they're easy to make. I want to use old blue jeans. I've seen rugs made with them before so I started saving all of hubby's old jeans as they wear out from work. I need to find directions to get busy, now that I have a huge storage tub full of them ... don't think I have enough to catch up with you, though! And, I do know that I've been terribly AWOL in getting back with you and catching up, Mae. I've been thinking of you a lot lately ... you've been in my prayers knowing that your daughter and sweet family are moving to Russia soon. Do you have an email address I could write to you? I really miss the private messages we used to share back and forth over on the 'old' Xanga, (by the way, I archived every one of those just before they switched over, and I've been reading through them again ... I miss you, Mae!) If you get a chance could you message me your email address, that is, if you wouldn't mind, then I can get busy finishing that overdue letter I owe you ... I want to hear about you, too! In the meantime, I'll be praying for perfect weather on the 23rd, and that God blesses those sales!!
I miss the flea markets we used to set up at .... seems so very long ago! Love and blessings to you, my friend!
