Trusting
In my last blog, I talked a bit about how important it is to have a good relationship with God if we want a successful prayer life. Another aspect of that relationship involves us knowing who God is. Of course, He is so vast, we can never fully comprehend Him, but we can know of Him through scripture, the testimony of others, and by our own experience. He longs for us to spend time with Him. I believe the more we know of His character and His love for us, the easier it is to trust Him. Scripture is full of references to God being our Heavenly Father. This is a very close relationship. While many of us may not have had a good and trustworthy father, our Heavenly Father is everything we could ever want in a Dad! We can trust in Him completely.
(Mat 7:9-11 NLT) "You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not! So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask Him.
For a successful prayer life, it is important to have faith in God. There is really no point in asking Him for anything if we don't believe He hears and answers, right? Faith pleases God. As parents, we want our children to believe in what we say, and God feels the same. We want our children to trust us. God wants us to trust Him.
If we want to get something from the store, we need to use money. If we expect to get anything from God, we need FAITH! My husband likes to say that faith is the currency of Heaven.
(Heb 11:6 NLT) And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to Him must believe that God exists and that He rewards those who sincerely seek Him.
A relationship of trust is so important when it comes to prayer. We need to know when we pray that God hears. Even if the answer is not what we desired or expected, we still trust Him. We need to know He loves us, and if we did not receive what we asked for, there is a good reason. He promised to supply our needs, so if we don't have it, we must not need it!
When I was younger, my prayer life was much different, but now, after knowing God for many years, I feel I am more in tune with His will and His plan. I have seen Him do amazing things -- mountain moving things! I know better now not to ask for selfish, silly stuff. Looking back, I have to say I am really, REALLY glad I did not get some of the things I ask for!

I love this verse from Zephaniah. (Zep 3:17 NLT) "For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With His love, He will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs." I love knowing I can be at rest in His love for me. I love knowing that when I pray, I can pray with a confident heart knowing that my Father hears and will answer in just the right way, and at just the right time. It's also cool to think of Him singing songs to me! I used to sing to my children all the time, and I really like the thought that God sings to me. When I come close to Him, I can hear it in my heart. Really. It's so peaceful --- like liquid love pouring over my soul.
Do you trust Him?

Yes. Very well said, Mae.
Taking that big leap weds. Don't have apt or job yet but trusting Him to work it out if His will.
Praying for you and yours too - hope you are blessed today. Hugs
Trust has come for me through scripture, preaching, and experience. Looking back on my life, it is clear that he was there at birth and walked me through it. This gives me confidence today.
sometimes I have a problem with this when something like the shooting at the theater in Aurora,Co. cause how can you say that one person dies and the next is ok and that God thought that family needed their love one more then the another. What about the litttle 6 yr old girl who got shot?
I have to remind myself that whatever happens that God can be trusted to see me through it.
Dear God,
I want a new bike and a GI Joe. I promise to be nicer to my little sister.
Isn't that how prayer is supose to work?
What a comfort it is to KNOW He listens, cares, answers ~ and because He loves us!
Yes, I trust Him, but I want to trust Him more.
@jillcarmel - We also have to remember that people have a free will to choose. That is God's gift to all of us. Some people make horrible choices with that gift, and use it to hurt other people. This world is sick with sin. God is there to comfort when our bad choices hurt others. He gave us a free will so that we could choose HIM. He wanted it to mean something, and not to just create mankind with no ability to make the decision. He grieves with us when His gift is used for evil. Of course it is not His will for things like this to happen!
@Aloysius_son - Ha! I was always trying to make deals with God. If I do this for You, God, then You do this for me!
I agree with atagrandma.
RYC - I use the little Canon I carry in my purse for the close ups. It's my little friend and has been for quite a few years. I will be sad when it wears out.
@DanishDoll - it's sad that there is such evil in the world.
once a lady who's mom was sick in the hospital was told by another visitor that her mom would be alright and she said,"that lady was right;no matter what happened to my mother;she would be alright. God was with her and God is with me."
@jillcarmel - After my grandma had gone on to Heaven, my sister was stopped by someone who knew the family a little bit. She asked how my Gram was doing. (Not knowing she had died) My sister smiled and said, "She is the best she has ever been!" I thought that was so true, but I don't think the person realized my sister was talking about Heaven!
@DanishDoll - yes, I can see that would be true.
my mom best friend died last year at a different nursing home and I said,"she's moved to Joshua." the cemetry is there and I didn't want mom to cry everytime she asked cause she forgets that I tell her something a week before. So I say,"she's doing fine." Mom, always says,"good she's with her relatives." and she is.
