Just wondering.....
I have never written my devotionals to gain readers or to be "popular." It has been something I have felt the Lord wanted me to do. I have been grateful to have a platform on which to share my thoughts, hopes and opinions. I have been so blessed to make many great friends here on Xanga, and I pray for many of you.
Lately I have been feeling like it is harder to write. I feel like I am repeating myself. Maybe I have hit a dry spell? I wonder if I am having any affect with what I do. I have no leading to stop Xanga, but I may not be on as much, or I may be doing more picture posts. I don't know. Thoughts? Suggestions?
And now today's devotion......
*************************************
Have you noticed that it seems to be getting harder and harder in many places to get good service? It seems like many, instead of giving their best, try to do as little as possible. This really "irks my tater." My Dad taught me to always do my best, and even a little extra. He taught me to do a job I could be proud of. I think especially when it comes to being a Christian, we need to do our best in all things. We are representatives of the Lord, and we need to be people of integrity.
We also need to teach our children to have a good work ethic, too.
(Col 3:23 NLT) Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.
It can be so tempting to just do the minimum, can't it? My oldest daughter worked a lot of minimum wage jobs in high school and college. She had been raised to give 100% and do her best. It used to bother her when other kids showed up late, or without a uniform, or never showed up at all! We were so proud of the way she handled herself, and her managers noticed, too. She was honored and given more responsibility.
(Philippians 2:13-15 NLT) For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him. Do everything without complaining and arguing, so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people.
Sometimes doing the right thing can get you in trouble. Isn't that silly? Sometimes, by doing the right thing, you make other people look bad, and they may resent you and give you a hard time. We live in a sin-sick world, but we are not citizens here, so don't let it bother you too much! We are citizens of Heaven, and there is only ONE we should want to please above all else. (Philippians 2:3-5 NLT) Don't be selfish; don't try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don't look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.
We must have the same attitude Jesus had. I don't know about you, but I find that difficult sometimes! But I am working on it. How about you?

I hope you keep on with your blog, you could always just do what many of us do, and post about daily life; I am sure it must be interesting, especially to those of us who rarely venture beyond our own little town. Always enjoy hearing from you, whatever you talk about!
I enjoy your visits. I also enjoy visiting you. The pictures are funny. Ewww....!
We are getting some more rain now. During the night I heard thunder again. PTL!
I especially enjoyed this picture post with the devotional alongside ~ what hilarious pics, by the way. My hubby would agree with you ~ hard to find help these days with a good work ethic ~ so sad ~
You are always encouraging me and challenging me to remember where I should be and Whose I am. I enjoy your pictures too and your lovely family posts.
lol do the best at whatever you do
someone famous said that and I don't remember who.
thanks for the pick me up.
Hi Mae,
Those sites that I visit that are exclusively Christian do not have high numbers. I know of one Naphtali something and the writer is Karen. She writes brilliant, seminary level posts and gets few comments. She is probably writing the most strongly doctrinal posts. I always recommend her posts. She like you does it for the Lord and not to be popular.
I do not have a Christian site, but my goal ha been to influence non-church goers and those who used to go to church.
Of course I love a place where I can use my humor and story telling desires. I am blessed with a nice group of people from many backgrounds.
I always worked hard. I realized that I was working for Jesus when I was born again at age 30. I also tried to apply scripture to my working efforts and how I treated bosses and employees. I feel good looking back and realize that God blessed many of my stupid ideas just because HE loved me.
God will lead you. Don't be afraid to change. I think trying things out is fine. If they work, OK. If not, go back. I like trial and error. I like experimenting.

I had to laugh at the road painting - do you have opossums there?
seriously though - I think every little thing we do affects someone or something, even if it's only ourselves
Don't be afraid to take a break. Sometimes we need fresh inspiration. Blessings.
Just keep writing whatever is on your heart. People read even when they don't tell you about it.
I think as long as we are giving our all, and not think we are better than those who are not, its amazing. I hate, however, when we get a holier than though platform because we are able to give 100% in our efforts of something while someone else seems to be only giving half as much as us.
its important to understand that a lot of people are not working for the Lord and feel short-changed in life, down and out. And our message should be to give til we have nothing left whether or not they are.
just my thoughts on the topic =]
Post when you are inspired, but also post periodically just because you know in your heart, it is the right thing to do, even when you don't feel like it. You don't have to post every day. Just do your best...
@mlbncsga - Nope. No opossums in Denmark! I snagged these pictures from Google image.
It cracks me up that someone with the job of painting lines could not be bothered to move things in the way!
You don't know me but I have been a subscriber for a few months now. Your posts are a blessing to me. Sometimes I re-post them on my Facebook account for my friends to read...so you are reaching more than just Xanga. I love sharing this work. Thank you so much for your posts. ~Gail
@LGailGarrett - I am so glad you told me this, Gail! Thank you! It was a real encouragement to me. Blessings on your day!
