Just Visiting
I know I usually publish a devotional, but every now and then I just want to visit. That's OK, right?
So, what is going on in my life? Plenty!
I have been making lots of rag rugs. I thought I could do this to raise some money for NTC, (Our outreach to Romania ---www.needtocare.dk) However, I am not sure how to sell them. Shipping them anywhere would probably cost more than the rugs are worth! Our church is thinking of having some kind of craft sale in October or November, so maybe that will be the way to go. In the mean time, the rugs are piling up! I am working on number 14 now! People who find out what I am doing have given me SO MUCH fabric! Whew! Storage is getting to be an issue! But, it is such a blessing.
I like making something useful out of materials that no one wants. I like the "shabby chic" look, too, so I am having fun creating!
I am also all "a-twitter" because my youngest daughter, who lives in N. Ireland is bringing her little girls over at the beginning of August! They can stay for THREE WEEKS! I can hardly wait!
At the end of August I will be heading to NY for the arrival of the newest grandchild. My oldest daughter has two boys, and we were all so excited to hear that this next one is a little girl! I have been there when the others were born, and am so blessed that I will be able to be there for little Annaliese's birth. I will enjoy spending time with my grandsons as well, and will have a chance to see my sisters and their families and hug my sweet momma. I wish my husband could come, too, but Bible school will be starting up again, and paying for one ticket is a challenge!
What else have I been doing? Teaching, Praying. Writing. Sewing. Mentoring. Loving people. Taking pictures. Reading. Baking. Taking care of my wonderful husband. Someone gave me fabric for my rugs that was so pretty I made curtains for the study with it. I am so happy to have something new in there. The other curtains came with the apartment, and they were horrid! I made a lemon pound cake for my cell group that was SO yummy! I can't tell you how many cakes I have bakes since we moved to Denmark. We are very much a cake and coffee society here, and our church is always celebrating something -- the birth of a baby, a wedding, etc. If I had the energy, I would do so much more, but I seem to be slowing down a little since I hit age 60!
Yesterday I killed Spike.
Yes I did. He is (was) my biggest aloe plant, but he was just too HUGE, and top heavy. I chopped him down and cut him up. Now I have lots of aloe stalks in the freezer -- perfect for sun burns and rashes. Spike is survived by many baby Spikes, so I will have aloe until Jesus comes back, I am sure.
What is everyone going to do if Xanga goes under? If you are moving somewhere else, please let me know. I do hope they can survive. I have made so many wonderful friends here, and I would hate to lose track of you. I don't know what I am going to do. I might just write my posts and put them up on FB. I already link them and have a few who read. I am trying to collect and save YEARS of posts from Xanga. I don't want to lose them. I have dreams of someday publishing a devotional book. I certainly have enough material. I plan to keep writing. It sharpens me.
This is kinda how I feel about Xanga going away!
My little Aliza is SO good with the pout. Maybe she learned from her big sister? The rhododendrons in the park are stunning! I do have photos, but I have not downloaded them yet. They have so many colors, and they are lush and lovely. My husband says how can I take so many pictures of the exact same thing year after year. I don't know! I just want to record that beauty as best I can. Although, so many times I see landscapes so beautiful they take my breath away, and the camera just does not do them justice. Nobody does it better than God!
I hope you are all having a good week. I find it helps to give each day to God. Before I even get out of bed I do that. When I let Him "take the wheel" things are just better. Blessings!

@Aloysius_son - Hey! I guess we need to use those things up, huh? I have 43,631 of them. I better start handing them out! Thanks for the e props!
Oh, that little pout is so sweet!! And your rugs are so beautiful -- what a nice way to use up scrap fabric. How are you saving your Xanga posts? I'd really love to save mine too! I'm not sure what I'm going to be doing -- I'm not real computer savvy and this is all very confusing to me. Have a great day and enjoy your visit to NY when you get here -- wow! you're getting way ahead of me with the grandchildren!! And yours are all younger than my two!!
That's a great pout! August will be a fun month for you. The rugs are nice. I have never made one. I don't bake like I used to. I've definitely slowed down since I was 70. (I'm now 75.)
Hi Mae, there is supposed be a way to download all of your Xanga posts; check the Xanga front page. I haven't done it yet. Where can I find you in Facebook?
@suzyQ_darnit -
I am there under
my name. Mae Jones living in Viborg, Denmark. Thanks. I have heard there
is a way to get all your archives. I have an "address" now, and will
ask hubby to help me with it. Beats trying to copy and paste six years
of posts!
I am sitting here wondering how you get so much accomplished and have the same 24 hours that i do. I feel pathetic. lol Just kidding.
My wife is loving our families baby production a lot!!! She has not been this happy since our honeymoon.
The rugs should do well at the craft show at your church. I guess space would be a problem.

just go to your account settings to "Posting" then to "xanga archives" and click on the button saying ARchive my files. Then come back to that in a day or two and there will be all your files to download.
I will open a site on wordpress named Guestbrief if xanga does not comeback, otherwise I will be on the new xanga. and I'm on facebook too with my husband.
Nice rugs! I thought it was cute of you to name your aloe plant Spike, and the baby Spikes.
Hey, Love that you are going to get to see the kids, grands, and newest baby born. LOVE the rugs. If xanga goes under I'll use either my blogspot or wordpress. I prefer blogspot.

Please find me at one and let us know what you'll be doing.
I love that pout - and your rugs.
As you probably know, I have moved to http://www.dorishigh.com at WordPress because we will be on a ministry trip from July 1 to 21, so I didn't have the luxury of waiting to see what happens. Please let me know what you decide to do. I do see you on Facebook, so we should be able to stay in touch.
You know where to find me, Mae.
FB and RoamingChile.com
Thinking of starting a second site for less newsy stuff, where Necia and I will share photos and such. We'll let you know.
oh, i love your rugs! i would buy one if shipping wasn't a fortune. that's one of the frustrating things about living in another country.. it not only takes forever to get something through the mail, but cost so much too. you wouldn't think canada would be so bad still being north america and all, but it is. my mom's finally given up on mailing us packages, etc. we just wait till we see each other next.
)
so happy your girl is coming to visit and you get to be in ny for your grandaughters birth! exciting!!
it is sad to see xanga shutting down. i had planned on moving for awhile anyway.. but now, it's like i want to stay and save the ship!!
)) i'll make sure i give you my new address when/if i go that route, or make sure we're connected on facebook. i'm on there under amber cornett hutchins.
) not hard to find.
you really should put your writings into a book. i have a few blogging friends that have done that now and i enjoy them so much - - like their blogs in book form! so perfect.
)
have a lovely day. i like your "visity" kind of post. i need to write one and catch up. hopefully i'll get to that today.
xo
@grace_to_be - I checked what it would cost to mail a rug to the U.S., and it would be about twice what I would charge for the rug. Silly! Silly and impossible. My family used to send me packages, but although I loved getting them, I asked them to stop. It just costs too much! The cost of posting it was usually more than the contents of the package I do hope xanga can hang on. I will stay here as long as I can.
