  • It's That Time Again!

...... and so the Christmas busyness has begun!

Most of us over commit ourselves, and then fret that there is just isn't enough time to get everything done. We hate it that we are throwing things together at the last minute, and we feel bad that we didn't do our best. Why do we do that?  How does this happen? Sometimes I think it is the evil plan of an enemy who hates everything Christ's birth represents to mankind. Oh, how he loves to make us feel rushed, guilty and in adequate.

Joyful anticipation, the special "magic" of the season, and the whole idea of peace on earth are replaced with stress, worry and regret. That is NOT what God intended at all. It is not what you want, either. Listen. It is not your job to make Christmas perfect! It already IS perfect. What we need to do is stay focused on what this time of year is all about. God gave us the perfect gift of Jesus. Incredible. Selah. (Pause, reflect and think calmly about that.)

Do yourself a favor. Take out your calendar right now and write in some quiet times for yourself. Make it a priority. Find some time each day, even if it is just 15 minutes, when you can just sit quietly and reflect on what Christmas really means. Force your mind away from that crazy list you have in your head. Tell God ten things you are grateful for. Thank Him for the gift of His dear Son. Think of all the good things. Consciously decide to choose joy. Choose peace. Then go hug someone and tell them what they mean to you! Smile. Put on some Christmas music. You will feel so much better, I promise you!

    Have a blessed week!

  • Thanks for this blessed reminder.

  • even reading your words made my heart calm down for a bit..

merry christmas my far away friend. love you~

  • I feel like that even when it's not Christmas. I just seem to find the things I want to do when I don't have the time for them to do it. and when break or summer rolls around all I do is watch tv or surf the internet aimlessly. and i beat myself up for wasting time doing non-productive things

  • Hello Mae, this is so true. I will say though for me this year all is quite, I am so thankful for Jesus. I wish terrible things didn't happen?

    Merry Christmas...& God bless

  • Not going to be a hectic holiday for me this year. I am too far away from the people I know, and too unsure of my way around to get all caught up in the holiday madness. So I am very likely just going to draw and paint and skype with my family and pray a lot.

  • I've had many, many years of Christmas's as you described above. Thankfully, by God's hand, the past few years have been so different and I've really enjoyed the season. This is mainly due to less money to spend on gifts and baking. I love to give gifts.. lots of them.. but I don't miss the craziness. I'm still able to give.. just not as much.
