FOCUS!
Most of us live too much for our feelings. We cater to our emotions. I know my emotions can take me all over the place! Some days are a wild ride! I have to be honest with you. I have days when I don't even "feel" saved. Suppose you have been throwing up all night, and then, the diarrhea starts. GROAN. Not particularly feeling the victorious Christian life, right? But aren't you glad that our faith is not based on our feelings? It is based on ..... well, FAITH. We KNOW it to be true no matter how it looks or how we feel. Sure, it is harder when the feeling isn't there, but our relationship with Christ is more than a feeling. We have His promise that He will get us through. The Bible even says we are more than conquerors
(Rom 8:37 NIV) No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
I know. I know. You are saying, "It's not that simple You don't understand what I am going through."
No, you're right. I don't. But you know what I DO know? (From my own experience!) As long as we keep focusing on our bad situation, we will never get free of it. I once heard a preacher talk about it being wrong to "rehearse the curse." In other words, we will stay in that bad place until we learn to lift our thoughts higher. We all know people who are pickled in bitterness because they just can't let go of the hurt done to them. We know people who do nothing but complain because all they ever focus on is the negative. Their feelings rule their miserable lives. Do you want to be like that? Yeah, me neither.
So, what we have to do is focus our thoughts not on our problems, but on the PROBLEM SOLVER. Remember the promises of God. In my Bible, I write a little "P" next to every promise I find, so that when I am having a bad day, I can flip through my Bible and read the promises. Worrying and focusing on the problem only wears you down. Focusing on Lord will encourage you and lift you up!

We all have problems, some moreso than others, but to dwell in it seems selfish. There is always someone worse off, and there are others out there affected by a glum mood, so yes, I appreciate when someone strides to overcome the bad and move on and focus on the positive things in life.
I have been beaten, raped, cheated on, had my first child die at just under 3months of age, had my roof blown off by a hurricane while inside, been hit by a drunk driver etc. But rather than wallow in self pity or get drunk or high to escape the bad memories, I live. There is more out there than the past and it's up to us to choose how to deal with it. I choose to help others as well as myself and move toward something better. Besides, I have much to be graterful for, as do we all. We have eyes to see, legs to walk with, and most of us do not need a breathing machine. We can be grateful for our mobility, our senses, the sun on our face, or the antics of the crazy squirrels scampering all over the yard. Anything to focus on rather than the negative constatntly.
I needed to read this yesterday!
I'm just glad today is a new day.
I like the idea of the "P" in your Bible margin ~ I have little symbols for different things like that ~ have a blessed day!
my mind goes toward the negative but I meet a lady who looks for the good in everyone. As they pass by she says,"I love her hair." She has a sweet smile." Sometimes she says that they start going by so fast she wants to tell them to slow down. That makes me laugh when I remember that.
@Crystalinne - I really like your attitude. You are amazing! Thank you for sharing.
Nicely put
Very true, Mae
We need to move on--I dwell on the past too much. I need to look to the divine Problem Solver.

Yes, I push forward as much as possible on bad days...to many of the lately and not enough answers and/or solutions from my doctor. After Nov 29, we'll see what my attitude is, probably snarkey and stresses as always after a session the Czech Doc.
Love this xo
