Who Do We Trust?
I heard of a young couple who were looking forward to the birth of their child. They were so excited! But, sadly, the young mother went into early labor, and her baby was born dead. The couple was devastated, as you can imagine. The doctor asked them if they wanted to see their baby. The wife said no, but the husband said yes. When he looked at his little child, it was clear that the poor, wee thing was horribly deformed. If it had lived, it would have had a horrible, painful life. Realizing this, he felt the peace and comfort of God, as he understood that God’s mercy was at work here. God chose to take his baby home where it could be well.It is so easy to be angry and bitter when heartache and trials come. Usually the one we become angry with is God. But, we don’t see what He sees, and we can’t know everything He knows. That’s why we need faith. That’s why we must stay close to Him and trust in His love.
There was an article published about that fateful day in September when the Twin Towers were bombed, which mentioned there were some people who worked in the Twin Towers who were late for work for various reasons, and that saved their lives. They overslept. They missed their ride. They had to take a child to school and it made them late or, they broke the heel of their shoe, and went home to get another pair. There were many reasons listed in the article I read, and I am sure at the time, those experiencing them saw them as an inconvenience. It was only later, looking back that they realized that one, small “inconvenience” was what saved them. Why were some spared and others taken? I don’t know. But I have faith in the One Who does.
I also know that life just ---- happens. We do not live in a perfect world. We get sick. We hit our thumb with a hammer. We leave the car window open and it rains. We burn the roast. We trip while carrying the cake and it ends up on the floor. We must bear the consequences of these things. Sometimes there is really no one to blame at all, because stuff just happens.
But through ALL things, what we need to remember is that God loves us. He is there to help and comfort us, whatever life may bring. In His mercy, He will often protect us from things He knows we could not bear. He is infinite. All knowing. His love never fails. He holds you.
Trust Him.

Very well written. "His love never fails" indeed.
Good words. I especially like your closing paragraph. His love never fails.
We don't need to know the why of everything. Someday we will. In the meantime we hang on and trust. Good thoughts.
Hope you have a good week-end.
I may everything around me crumble but my heart will stay strong in the Lord, My God.
He holds us. I like that. Life happens and -does it ever sometimes!!
You so gently draw us toward Christ in each post you share. Bless you!
