(Deut. 32:28-29 KJV) “For they are a nation void of counsel, neither is there any understanding in them. O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end!”
(Proverbs 21:2 NLT) “People may be right in their own eyes, but the LORD examines their heart.”
I have no doubt that President Barak Obama has the best interests of America in his heart. He believes he can make changes which will benefit his country and make it safe and prosperous. He is not a bad guy. He loves his wife and kids. He is intelligent, compassionate, dedicated and sincerely wants to make things better. However, none of these qualities alone will make any difference. Man’s wisdom is so limited, man’s resources so small. Mankind does not have the ability to bring about the changes which are needed.
(1 Corinthians 3:19-20 NLT) “For the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God. As the Scriptures say, "He traps the wise in the snare of their own cleverness." And again, "The LORD knows the thoughts of the wise; He knows they are worthless."
Do you know why? Because so many of the issues facing America are HEART issues. The heart cannot be changed by man’s wisdom and cleverness or by laws and legislation. The heart cannot be changed by the sincerity and promises of man. Selfishness, murder, drugs, poverty, unrest, abortion, corruption, a crumbling economy and a weak education system – these can all be traced back to the condition of the heart.
(Proverbs 14:34 NLT) “Godliness makes a nation great, but sin is a disgrace to any people.”
(Psalm 7:9-10 NLT) “End the evil of those who are wicked, and defend the righteous. For You look deep within the mind and heart, O righteous God. God is my shield, saving those whose hearts are true and right.”
Please pray for the United States and for President Obama. Oh! And happy Independence Day!
"Heart" issues - AGREED. It's not just in the US though; it's in every country.
HUGS, Momma Mae. And I hope you get to celebrate the 4th of July with your hubby and other Americans in Viborg!
THank you for this beautiful write, happy fourth to you too
In Christs Love
Michelle~
@bella_esperanza - Thanks! I just listened to James Taylor singing the Star Spangled Banner! I only know one other American in Viborg and we do not "hang out" with him! LOL!
you said this about Obama better than i've heard anyone else say it. not that he's a bad person, but that our trust shouldn't be in him, but in God alone and in His wisdom. "For the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God" amen sister. yes, these are heart issues, i agree =/
Praise God that "HE" turns the hearts of kings! I was convicted this week that I need to spend more time in prayer for our president and our nation.
Good post!
I also pray for our country and for our president. I respect the office of the president but I fear the direction he wants to take us. There have been many frightening changes but...I put my trust in God and not in man. Much of the problem here(as with the rest of the world) is with the hearts of mankind . Too many here do not want to take responsibility for their own lives and want the government to solve their problems.
Have a great week end.

I was thinking about the "words" I wanted to use in affirming this post. I eventually narrowed my "words" to one. AMEN!
Don't you think a lot of heart issues are taught in our schools? There have been frightening changes but sometimes it takes that kind of direct assault to wake people up and get them on their knees.
how does this work with God? nation first or God first? God first but we are so convinced that our country is always right. I can see why some religions don't do patriotic stuff.
@Jillycarmel - God first! If we, as a nation, were following godly ways, we would be so blessed. (Like it says in Proverbs 14:34) Even people who are not Christians can conduct themselves with good ethics like honesty, and kindness.
Wonderful post. Blessings and Happy July 4th! Blessings.
Hope you are having a happy day this 4th of July.
We do need to pray for this nation and for those who are in authority! Seeking God is the only way that this country will continue.
Happy 4th to you Mae, thank you for leaving the land you love for a people God loves.
Well written- and yes, the big issues we face are heart issues. Our nation needs to remember to turn to God, and quit forgetting about Him or worse, saying we aren't His people anymore. The Lord looks at the hearts of all- and it is He who examines them. May we remember that and look to Him.
Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing. And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt offering. All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity. (Isaiah 40:15-17)
Peace to all reading.
Good points Mae, you are so correct about "heart issues."
Thanks for your comments...Have a great weekend! Mike
Well said. We need revival. HE alone is the answer!
Happy 4th!!
Well, I think you already know what I think of this post! :) I'm glad to hear you say that you believe that President Obama has good intentions. I agree wholeheartedly, even though I may not agree with all his thoughts on the issues. It saddens me when so many believers villainize him.....we need to walk in greater humility and less cynicism, and pray for God's grace to be on Him.
preach it! Amen!
..."so many of the issues facing America are HEART issues."
oh, so true Mae~ I was thinking while reading this how that we were dealing w/ some "heart issues" around here today too... in little hearts that were disappointed the rain never stopped, and all our plans were canceled. and how that big hearts were tired and cranky and not really wanting to deal w/ the little hearts issues. :) but reminded through what you shared.. that America will never change until WE do~ then it will spill out into our homes. our churches. and finally, our nation. like the ripple effect. :)
I guess it's late, and I'm just thinking out loud - which your posts always make me do.. which is a good thing. :)
Thanks so much for sharing.
{{hugs to you}}
I remember hearing a quote once that said, "be the change you wish to see in others." I think that goes along with what you shared too~
okay - time to get this "big cranky heart" :) to bed!!!

One nation, under God, with liberty and justice for all...
We do need to pray for our National leaders and our country!
