Questions?
I have been on Xanga a long time! I think seven years! A lot of people I started with have fallen away from blogging here, but others have become good friends. It is funny how we can be friends when we have never met, but we know so much about one another! I pray for you, and I know many of you pray for me, too. It is so wonderful how I can sit here in front of my computer in Denmark and reach out across the world with my words! I have people who read my posts from the Ukraine, the United Kingdom, Russia, Peru, Malaysia, Canada, the U.S., S. Africa and many other places. It is pretty amazing. Anyway, today I thought I would try something a little different. Others have done it on their pages, but I don't think I ever have. What I am proposing is that you can ask me questions. Genuine, nice questions, please! I will try to answer them as best I can. So... if you are out there and want to know more about the Doll, ask away.
I am willing to let you know me better, if you want to.Now, of course, I have more to say. You know me! I have to leave you with something to ponder.
You know that the devil is a liar and a cheat, right? Stop and think a minute. What has he stolen from you? How has he tried to lie to you? Don't fall for it! God says our future is bright when we obey Him. He said He would not withhold any good thing from those who walk uprightly.
(Psalm 84:11 NLT) For the LORD God is our sun and our shield. He gives us grace and glory. The LORD will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right.
This is a promise you can depend on! Reach out and believe that God means what He says and does what He promises.
Now, about those questions........

I did have to leave Xanga because it wasn't working with our internet here but I still read your blogs through my Google Reader! (unfortunately right now our internet is so slow/unreliable I can't post at WordPress either!) It has been a long time since I have commented, though! I am very thankful for your posts, and just wanted to tell you that
i don't think I have any questions for you right now, but I wanted to let you know that you still have a faithful reader over here in Indonesia!!!
Blessings!
@Junglewife - Thank you so much! My mother often asks me if I still hear from you. She is not able to type much anymore, due to age and arthritis, but she enjoyed reading your posts, and still prays for you! I am sure your children are getting BIG! Blessings to you, and again, thanks for your comment.
I don't have any questions right now, but I'll try to think of some.
Great verse from the Psalms!!!
You are a great encouragement to me.
How is your grandbaby? (is there more than one now?) that's my only question at the moment.
@Tempguestbrief - I actually have three, with one more on the way! Lucas is 3. Sianna is 18 months, and Little Josiah is five months. Sianna's mommy is due with her second in October. My cup runneth over!
How did you meet your husband?
Mae, I have been here since May of 2004...I think I met you a short while after that? I have 2 questions
...did you know my sister Donna....nannydonna?
And are you still farming?
Hugs...Linda
What are some of your favorite Danish recipes? What are your favorite in general or American dishes you like to serve?
What are some lessons you've learned this year?
What should people know about marriage before or if they ever get married?
What is one of your greatest joys being a missionary and counseling in Denmark?
What is your favorite Christmas tradition?
What would you miss about the country if you had to leave?
What do you miss from the states?
Do you still sew or knit?
That should keep you busy? Lol.
You ever make love to a woman???
@ANVRSADDAY - I met my husband at university in our freshman year, 1969. I was engaged to someone else. and honestly, when I first met him, I thought he was a jerk! LOL! God changed my heart, and I am so glad he did! My husband is so dear to me. He is my best friend, and encourager. You just never know what God is going to do!
@Mymanyblessings - Yep. We have been around a long time, huh? I don't know your sister. Is she on Xanga? I will have to look her up. I am still farming. Sometimes I think I will stop, but I really do like it. Especially in the dark, Winter months. It is nice to think of something green and growing, even if it isn't real! I am taking your advice and buying those expensive cows!
@YouToMe - Your list will keep me busy! A. At Christmas, one of the traditional things to eat here is duck. I never had it before we moved here, but it is good! I also like this salad made with chopped, raw broccoli, sunflower seeds, red onion and raisins. The sauce is sour cream that is lightly sweetened with brown sugar. It's delicious! B. To answer this, I would have to write a post. If you are a believer, I think the most important thing about finding a mate is knowing he/she is God's choice for you. He knows you, and He knows what you need. He knows who will sharpen you. He knows who will serve along side you. C. My greatest joy about being a missionary is just knowing I am where God wants me to be. There is such peace in that! I love what I do. I love helping people. I love seeing them get free and grow. D. Here, we celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve. There is a sweet family here with three kids that kind of adopted us, and we always have Christmas with them. I love seeing the kids open their presents. I love going to church and singing the old songs. I miss the ones we sang in America growing up, but after 12 years, I know the Danish ones! E. The thing I would miss most about this country if I left would be the people. We have invested our lives in people here and have grown to love them so. When I am away from Denmark, I also miss the language. Sometimes, I sing or pray in Danish when I am in the US, just because I want to hear it! F. There are SO many things I miss about America! The food, the attitude of people there, the language, the stores and restaurants. But, mostly, I just miss my family. I miss them A LOT! G. I like to crochet. I stink at knitting. I do have a sewing machine, and I enjoy making things for the grandchildren. I just finished a quilt for Sianna, and will be starting one for Josiah soon. Then, there is the new baby coming on October! It keeps me busy! Every year I also make gifts for the church elders and our friends here. I have to get really creative because I don't have a big budget to work with. I like Pinterest because there are lots of good ideas there I can copy. Hope this answered all your questions!
@LadyboyRevolution - Nope!
@Mymanyblessings - Oh, Linda, I did not know your sister had gone home to the Lord! I just went to her site. I am so sorry for your loss. I have two sisters, and I can't imagine how hard that must have been for you. Love you!
@DanishDoll - That is a nice love story that God engineered. Thanks for sharing.
Hmm. Questions. Let's see. What's your favorite aspect of ministry? Do you have a story about a particularly powerful moment when you were doing God's work? And something really basic...I have a sense of your family, but not a concrete picture. Can you list your kids/grandkids and their general whereabouts? No need for exact location...too much info on the internet isn't good. I just like a mental picture of your immediate family
Your questions about the devil and stealing. Oh, Satan was after some friends of ours the past few weeks. They are an amazing couple who often lead children to Christ. The wife led my Bible study when we moved here. They teach NFP to all sorts of couples, teaching them to partner with God rather than playing God when it comes to our bodies and honoring one another. The husband is in leadership in the military, and was getting ready to go to school to train for a big step forward in leadership...he'd be in a position to influence many young military members. He had a young woman who is senior to many but under him and she got married recently. He'd been too busy to look at her wedding album all week, so last Friday he made the time. He didn't want her to think he, her leader, didn't value her as a person. She didn't have her album on her anymore, but offered to let him see the wedding pics on her phone. Well, my friend scrolled past her wedding pics and stumbled on nude photos of her! He froze. She ran out of the room. He was left stunned, holding her phone, not knowing what to do. Just before he unfroze, someone came on her behalf, berated him for still holding the phone, and took it. She went to report him to Equal Opportunity. His wife was so hurt that he saw that, but understood it was no fault of his. Somehow, the incident went up the chain of command and he was taken off the roll for the school that would set him up for promotion and more leadership. His wife is so worried that their reputation as Christian leaders is damaged, and their family stands to lose money due to the sudden loss of promotion. The husband is trying to get to the bottom of how this happened to his career, because he is not at fault. In fact, some of us feel the woman is at fault for bringing nude photos to the workplace in the first place. It sounds like leadership made a poor decision to me...and his wife and I think this is a direct attack from Satan. Their 4 kids still at home (one is much older and is on his own, the others are 10 and under) are confused as to why the household is stressed out right now, but the parents obviously don't want to share this! Satan so often uses sexuality for attack.
What do you consider to be one of the happiest times of your life?
Have you ever had a defining moment with God?
If you go anywhere/do anything, what would it be? Why?
@BigToePeople - I have two lovely daughters. One lives in the US, and is a school teacher. She and her husband are in youth ministry at their church. They have two sons, Josiah, five months, and Lucas who is is two. They are SUCH a delight! They also have two doggies! My "other" grandchildren! LOL! My younger daughter and her husband live in N. Ireland They are youth leaders at their church. They have little Sianna, who is a year and a half, and another one due in October. I also have an adopted family here, and they have three children. They are our kids, and grandkids, too, and call us "Bedste" which means grandparent. Those children are Lucas, who is nine, Victoria, six, and Josef, almost two. My cup is full and running over! I love being a grandma.
A story about doing God's work... whew! There are many special memories. I remember once when I was praying for a lady for healing, God revealed to me that she thought she deserved to have this sickness because of sin in her life. So, we dealt with that, and then, when I prayed for her healing, my hand got SO HOT! I have never had that happen before, but I felt the power of God touch her, and she felt the heat too! That was cool! I love seeing people set free to be the person God desires them to be. We have so much in Christ, and so often, we take advantage of so little of it.
I am sorry to hear this about your friend. I will certainly pray that righteousness will prevail in this situation. Yes, the enemy is always looking for something he can exploit, but I have found that often, he "overplays" his hand. God fights for His own! I pray this will come out right!
@flann00 - One of the happiest times in my life. Hmmm..... there are many! I think giving birth to my children was especially precious. Doctors had told me I would not be able to have children, so they were such a miracle to me. Being a mom was one of the best things I have done with my life. Sure, it was hard, but it was fun and rewarding as well.
A defining moment.... there have been several times when I have felt God speak to me in a very precious way. His presence was so strong I was shaking. These times are very personal to me, and what He told me is, too, but let me just say, they shaped my life. I felt bathed in liquid love -- so pure, so unconditional. I will never forget that.
I think my "go anywhere" was moving my life to Denmark. I was kinda dragging my feet on that one. The reluctant missionary, that was me!
But, God was so faithful and His will was so clear. I HAD to. I could say no, but saying no to God is never in your best interests! We have lived and worked here for over 12 years now. It was a good decision. I have grown so much in faith, and in my understanding of who God is, and I love seeing Him use me to help other people grow, too. Of course, there are other places in the world I would love to visit, but that is more just for personal pleasure. I am just happy if I can get back to America occasionally to visit me family and hold my grandchildren, and also to N.Ireland where my other daughter and her family live. It is hard for me to be the absent mother/grandma/daughter. I miss my family a lot. I am happy for SKYPE and all the other things the internet supplies to stay in touch.
@DanishDoll - Thanks so much! It's nice to have a complete picture of your family
Now I have a "big picture" in which to place your family stories.
I was in a healing prayer ministry years ago and experienced the warm hands and the healing presence of the Holy Spirit a few times. I hate how easily I forget that God's power is that amazing and that he's that present! How wonderful that this particular experience of yours set a person free from the bondage of sin in addition to the healing of body. Seems like that's what Jesus was all about when he walked among us incarnate.
Thank you for praying for the friends...We hope that the legal counsel they are getting will undo the stupid attack on his career and reputation.
I enjoyed reading your answers here so much
Thanks, Mae. It's amazing what God has done through you
This was a treat.
@DanishDoll - Many of my family members live in North Ireland.
Thank you for your thought-out responses.
@flann00 - Really? My kids live outside Belfast in Dundonald. Have you ever been to visit? It is so beautiful.
